Venezuela

Two things can be true at once.

You can chew gum and walk at the same time.

You can despise Maduro and what his regime has done to Venezuela. And you can believe that doesn’t justify another country illegally intervening and kidnapping a sitting leader and announcing it’s going to ‘run’ the country or take its resources.

This is not liberation. This is colonialism.

We’re not even pretending anymore that we are in the might is right era.

The elites often cheer foreign intervention because they know they’ll come out on top. But what about the poor? What about those who may have voted for Maduro, or who simply didn’t want foreign control of their country?

And to those who are saying if you’re not Venezuelan then shut the f*ck up. We all saw what happened to Syria. That logic would mean only Palestinians can speak on Gaza, only Afghans can speak on the Taliban, only Ukrainians on Russia. That’s absurd.

If anything, global solidarity matters now more than ever, because if we normalize this, it won’t stop at Venezuela. Canada could very well be next.
